Xiaomi has focused on making IoT based products available at economical prices. But does the new Mi smart TVs, Mi smart bands and Mi Air purifiers follow suit?

After focusing on Mi brand smartphones in India, Xiaomi, the China based tech giant, now has also aimed for the smart electronics segment in the country. The company’s formula to establish a great share in the Indian consumer base remains the same as its mobile phones – deliver feature rich smart electronic appliances at unbeatable prices.

Here is a list of latest smart lifestyle electronic products that the company launched last September.

Xiaomi Android based Smart TVs

Xiaomi added a 49-inch model to its portfolio of smart TVs available in India. Christened as the ‘Pro’ models, these new Mi Smart TVs are based on Android Oreo and also support built-in Google Chromecast.

Users will be able to use Google Assistant Commands for searching and playing movies online. The new smart features will also allow consumers to carry out general searches as the criteria set of these is universal and applies to all content sources available on the internet. Amazon’s Prime Video, Hooq, Jio and other content sources will be a part of the ones offered with these smart TVs.

Mi’s AI revolution Patchwall, will continue to be available on the new Xiaomi IoT TVs. However, the new version will also allow consumers to make voice-based commands. It is to be noted here that Patchwall is an artificial intelligence system that learns the type of content users like on their smart TVs and enhances the searches using the data and learning it accumulates.

The new Xiaomi Pro series TVs come priced at Rs 49,999 for the 55-inch 4A Pro, Rs 29,999 for the 49-inch 4A Pro and Rs 14,999 for the 32-inch 4C Pro.

The new version of Mi Band

Taking the war to the world of smart bands and watches, Xiaomi has also added the updated version of Mi Band to its list of smart lifestyle products. The version three of the Xiaomi smart band sports a bigger touch screen and offers water resistance for up to 50 metres.

Consumers can now also read WhatsApp messages, see notifications and reject or answer calls without looking at their phone. It is to be noted here that these features were majority available with high-end smart watches only.

It’s usual functions like counting steps, heart rate and calories remain intact. As a smart band or watch, it will of course continue showing you the time.

Despite all the improvements, features and the bigger 0.78-inch OLED screen, the Mi 3 band is priced at Rs 1,999.

Xiaomi smart air purifier

The new Mi Air purifier 2S comes integrated with the Mi app that consumers can use to control its functioning through their smartphones. It can also be used to check temperature, air quality and humidity. Mi’s smart home-based app also notifies users when the air filters need to be changed.

Xiaomi claims that the tower structure design and 943 intake holes enable more air intake and hence improve the overall experience. The OLED screen displays vital information including PM 2.5 levels, humidity levels and temperature.

Priced at Rs 12,999, this Mi 2S air purifier is currently retailing at a discounted price of Rs 8,999 on the Mi India website.
